Ellie Reeves MP is looking for a Senior Caseworker to join her constituency office in Lewisham West & Penge (although the majority of work will be undertaken remotely at this time).

This a perfect opportunity for someone with a proven track record as a Caseworker, either working for a Member of Parliament or similar, and is looking to progress their career.

The Senior Caseworker will provide advice and support to Ellie's constituents on a range of issues, including housing, welfare and immigration amongst others, and help to resolve problems through communication with government agencies, the voluntary sector and other organisations.

The Senior Caseworker will also support Ellie with her community based campaigns, including organising and attending meetings with stakeholders, keeping up to date with local issues and communicating with constituents

Supported by an Office Manager, the Senior Caseworker will provide supervision and guidance to junior caseworkers within the team

Key responsibilities include:
Deal with queries from constituents by phone, or in person, and provide information, advice and support on a wide range of issues
On behalf of the Member, responding to constituents on casework issues raised, undertaking research thoroughly and accurately, and drafting correspondence, which reflects the Member’s views
Attend surgeries and other meetings
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework
Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act

Skills required:
A minimum of two years previous casework experience is essential – preferably within an MPs office
Knowledge of immigration, housing and welfare casework
Ability to deal with a large and varied caseload and to work well under pressure
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Good IT skills including using a casework tracking system and MS Office
Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard
Ability to see trends in complex issues as well as develop knowledge in specialist areas
Motivated to work independently as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a small team
Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
