Job Details

Who we are:

You can be forgiven if you’ve never heard of us before. We think we’re pretty unique here at the Coal Authority where we are making a better future for people and the environment in mining areas.

We’re a great bunch of people to work with. We all have a united passion and desire to live and breathe our values. We are inclusive, trusted and progressive in everything that we do.

About the role:

As Research Manager you’ll help connect the organisation to what’s happening externally to inform strategy and engagement.

You’ll undertake and manage research into activities taking place across a wide range of our stakeholders and support work with ministers, elected mayors, MPs, MSPs, MSs, chief executives and directors.

You’ll work closely with colleagues to understand our current relationships and ensure information is recorded and managed effectively.

As Research Manager you’ll also work with us to develop and manage a small and productive team

This role will be working from home initially, after which time there’s flexibility to work from home for part of the week.

About you:

With experience in undertaking research, analysing results and providing recommendations to others you’ll bring new insights from the external environment to help us create a better future from our mining past.

You’ll have an eye for detail and the ability to work at pace to deliver real results for the communities we serve.

A positive team worker who works well with others, you’ll naturally have an interest in people and helping them to develop – so even if you’ve not managed a small team before we’d like to hear from you. We’ll work with you to take that first step and give you access to a range of learning and development opportunities.

The Coal Authority is committed to developing a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community. We encourage applications from people with the required skills and experience, from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and beliefs. Diversity is vital to our success and innovation and is fundamental to our values of being trusted, inclusive and progressive.
