Job Details

The Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition is seeking a new Lead to take it to the next level. The Lead is a new role and will work with the Coalition and its 200+ members to improve the lives of children and young people affected by mental health problems.

The Coalition Lead will manage campaigns on key themes and develop influencing strategies to ensure that infant, children and young people’s mental health is given the priority it needs nationally and locally across the country. The Coalition recently celebrated its tenth birthday. It brings together organisations and leading experts in children and young people’s mental health to articulate shared priorities and inform policy.

Your role will be to ensure that the Coalition exerts a strong influence on behalf of its members with ministers, civil servants, health services and local authorities. You will manage the Coalition’s Coordinator and work closely with the Coalition’s Strategic Lead, Kadra Abdinasir, and the Chair of the Coalition, Sir Norman Lamb.

You will have proven experience of working in a policy or public affairs role, with some experience of working with politicians and a knowledge of how policy gets made and translated into practice. You will be a skilled writer and communicator who can navigate the complexities of policy development on behalf of our members.

The Coalition is hosted by Centre for Mental Health, which provides office space, equipment and support for the Coalition’s staff. The Centre’s staff are currently working from home. Our office space is in Central London and we would normally expect the Coalition Lead to be based in the office.

The salary for this role will be between £33,000 and £36,000 a year. It is a full-time position (35 hours a week) but we are also willing to consider candidates who would like to work 28 hours a week and to work flexibly.
