Job Details

Contract Type: Full time, 3-year contract (with possibility of extension)

About the Position

The Project Manager will report to the Senior Labour Rights Lead, with the role focussed on distinct but interlinked areas: trade agreements; and corporate accountability policies, with labour rights for workers in global supply chains cross-cutting across both. Working with activists, unions and trade justice groups in the global South will therefore form a large part of the role.

This will be a new area of work for BHRRC, focused on ensuring that the UK’s international trade and investment policies respect human and labour rights standards, as well increasing our capacity to support ongoing efforts to build corporate accountability of British companies.

The Project Manager will work closely with a network of organisations in the UK and the global South – from trade unions, NGOs, businesses and investors to the UN, feminist groups and the broad trade justice movement to contribute to building a broad base of support for ensuring rights are at the centre of UK agreement on trade and investments. To ensure that there is alignment in UK policies across various policy forums, the role Project Manager will also work across other UK policy areas linked to the achievement of corporate accountability such as mandatory human rights due diligence legislation, regulating unfair purchasing practices in supply chains of UK companies, and corporate governance.

As Project Manager you will have excellent communication and policy analysis skills, a strong understanding of and personal commitment to working on economic justice issues, and a track-record of working with networks and building close relationships. You will be able to work autonomously and collaboratively and have an astute analysis on the structural causes of human rights abuses linked to companies and supply chains. Experience of working on UK policy (especially Brexit, trade and investment) is highly desirable as is experience working on the impacts of UK companies on the global South.

Closing Date: 9 November 2020
