This part-time post 22.5 hours per week can be based either in the constituency office in Newport West or the Westminster office when Covid-19 restrictions allow but it will involve working from home until the current situation with the pandemic changes. If based in Newport, traveling to Westminster will be as and when required.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Generate compelling content for the MP social media channels
  • Monitoring social media channels to respond appropriately to posts/comments, and identifying issues that require escalation
  • Filming and editing videos and photographs
  • Creating high-quality graphics and infographics
  • Writing engaging and informative copy for social mediaProducing newsletters
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the MP which may include unsociable hours

Skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge of relevant digital software packages (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro or similar)
  • Experience of using social media advertising platforms (Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads)
  • Editing and design skills – audio, visual, graphic and motion graphic
  • Experience of writing copy specifically for social media
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good knowledge of social media trends
  • Highly creative and collaborative
  • Flexible multitasker, able to work across multiple projects to tight timescales
  • Supportive of the values of the Labour Party
  • Basic understanding of media law
