Fixed term under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. The appointment will terminate on approximately 27 May 2021, however subject to the Conservative Group remaining after the May 2021 election then re-appointment is likely for further 4-year term.

The Conservative Group at Suffolk County Council are looking for a Political Research Assistant to provide policy and administrative support to their group.

The work will include research, liaison with the wider media, preparing briefings and reports, as well as general administrative duties.

Political awareness and sensitivity are essential requirements, as is experience of the Conservative Party, the media and other partners, ideally in local government.

You will be educated to degree standard or have equivalent experience with excellent research and communication skills. You will also need to be able to work independently to tight deadlines and manage your own workload.

This is a great opportunity to work with elected politicians at the political centre of the council where policies and priorities are set, and to be part of an organisation that is at the forefront of innovation in local government.
