Our Issues & Public Affairs team is the leading Public Affairs consultancy within the WPP network. We take a wide definition of public affairs from traditional political engagement through to modern day public affairs with BCW’s NEXUS offer which combines top down and bottom up tactics to deliver political impact. At the heart of this is political strategy combined with creative execution across a range of communication channels.
Description
You should be a fully rounded consultant with a strong background in public affairs. You should have a good fundamental understanding of public affairs consultancy and be passionate about the politics and the media. You will follow not just Westminster but the world beyond it closely. You will you will have ideas about how to develop campaigns that resonate with political audiences around the nations and regions – be they in Whitehall, Parliament, NGOs or at grassroot level - in order to drive change or to give our clients a voice in the debates that concern them.
Requirements

  • Able to interpret international, regional, national and sub-national policy dynamics
  • Detailed understanding of the mechanics of the policy-making process
  • Powerful grasp of party politics, NGOs and other campaigners and their impact on business
  • Able to develop integrated campaigns and strategies that speak to political audiences
  • Enjoy working as a team and understand how to coach junior colleagues
  • Have strong client relationships (consultancy) or internal/external relationships (in-house)
  • Have a good understanding and ideally practical experience of using social media in public affairs

You may be coming from either a consultancy or an in-house role but it is important you understand the demands and technical requirements of the consultancy environment.
