Job Details

As one of the UK’s largest and highest-profile business membership organisations, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) sits at the heart of a unique network of Chambers of Commerce and business groups and plays a critical role in promoting the interests of British businesses, both domestically and internationally. As a mission-led organisation, with a prestigious history and strong reputation, the BCC represents over 68,000 businesses, which employ almost six million people across the UK. This is constituted through a network of 53 accredited chambers in the UK and 66 British Chambers and Business Groups worldwide, which are trusted champions of businesses, places, and global trade. As such, the BCC represents British businesses across all regions of the UK and around the world.

At this critical time for UK businesses, we are seeking an outstanding individual to lead our International trade policy work. Working as part of a nimble advocacy (comprising policy, research, public affairs and media) function, the successful candidate will help shape thinking around the UK’s trading relationships with the EU and the rest of the world, and will be responsible for leading our national and international networks in this area, working with commercial partners and representing our positions in the media.

You are likely to have expert knowledge of international trade and policy-making, perhaps gained in government or politics, an agency or a business representative organisation and be able to establish nuanced positions in complex areas and build consensus around them, make your arguments clearly and quickly analyse and apply to changing situations.

We are a relatively small team known for performing well-above our headcount at the highest levels, in part because we are warm, friendly and supportive, even when under pressure. We are very willing to consider the work pattern which works best for you; what matters to us is performance.
