Job Title: PP&PO Housing & Planning
Working For: London Councils
Salary: £36,042 per annum
Want to play your part in shaping policy in London?
These are challenging times for public services. We are looking for a highly motivated person with enthusiasm, innovative ideas and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.
Although this is a generic policy post, the immediate need is in the Housing and Planning policy team. You will need to have experience of contributing to policy development in these policy areas.
London is currently facing an acute housing crisis and a constantly shifting legislative and policy agenda, in addition to a range of new challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic. There is a crisis in homelessness and a need for new policy solutions. The scale and nature of the housing challenge demands innovative solutions at borough and pan-London level that draw on all the strengths of London local government.
You will need to develop a firm grip on a range of skills including policy development, statistical analysis, financial modelling, and the ability to communicate with clarity and impact both in writing and verbally. You will also build a good understanding of housing policy and practice in London, to help create those innovative opportunities for London Boroughs and for Londoners. You will develop housing and homelessness policy to support boroughs address the challenges facing them.
London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that London’s councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses. We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.
