Job Details

Are you interested in working in media and communications for a campaigning organisation? Do you want to make a real difference by making the world a safer place for future generations?

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament is looking for a new trainee Press and Communications Officer, to work in our campaigns team to promote CND’s activities and policies in the media, as well as provide information for our national and public campaigning. You’d be working with experienced colleagues and receive support with and training in your work.

CND campaigns non-violently to achieve nuclear disarmament in Britain and around the world. Now is a crucial time for CND. As the danger of nuclear war increases, CND works for disarmament and peace.

Not only will the successful candidate be passionate about CND’s aims and objectives, they will be interested in the national media and relevant outlets for CND, and be able to identify and create press opportunities. They will be able to meet tight deadlines, set goals and work proactively, and develop excellent communication skills, and make use of them on digital media platforms.

For an informal chat about the position please telephone Kate on 07891 870732.

You would be working from home, as currently CND staff are largely working remotely due to the pandemic, with regular Zoom meetings and calls. Our usual place of work is the CND national office on Holloway Road in London, and we anticipate you would occasionally work from the office when it is safe to do so.

This role is 35 hours a week and is temporary, initially for one year, with a three-month probationary period.

It is paid at the London living wage (currently £10.85, or £19,747 per annum) and the successful candidate will be entitled to 28 days of holidays, plus bank holidays, and a contributory pension scheme.

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament is committed to welcoming people from the widest possible diversity of background, culture and experience. Please contact us to discuss any particular requirements you may have.

Closing Date: 24 January 2021

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews to take place soon after the closing date, with the successful candidate starting as soon as possible afterward.
