NHSEI is recruiting a full time (37.5 hours per week) Senior Communications and Engagement Manager to support the COVID-19 Safe Hospital Services communications cell.

Working with the Head of Communications – Safe Hospital Services you will be responsible for delivering strategic, rapid communications to support key programmes in the NHS COVID-19 response, covering critical areas such as urgent and emergency care, elective care restoration, infection prevention and control, the Nightingale Hospitals, independent sector utilisation, and winter.

The role will require someone with good strategic communications skills, able to quickly get to grips with flagship policies and develop communication strategies to support their successful delivery, communicating with patients, stakeholders and the media.

You should be comfortable with creating stories and content for a range of different channels. A knowledge of health policy is not essential, but a detailed understanding of how public sector communications works and an interest in current affairs is desirable.

Confidence in working closely with very senior stakeholders, internally and externally, to provide advice and guidance is essential. The role will also require you to be organised and able to deal with competing demands on your time as you will be supporting the Head of Communications in overseeing the function of a very busy team.

Please note that the reason for the fixed term of the contract is to provide support for the NHS COVID-19 response. Fixed term until 30th September 2021
