Job Details

This is an incredible opportunity for a committed advocacy professional who understands to save our planet we must secure global agreements that stop the calamitous loss of nature and a climate catastrophe. If that is you, this Senior International Advocacy Adviser role with the world’s leading independent conservation organisation is for you.

This is an exciting time to be joining the team. In 2021, the UK Government can demonstrate international leadership as President of the UNFCCC COP-26 hosted in Glasgow, as Chair of the G7 summit, and leading light at the CBD COP-15 hosted in China. We need to maximise this unique opportunity which is where your international advocacy skills come in.

Join us and you will help influence international negotiations by collaborating with the WWF network engaged in UN and international advocacy. This will include direct relationship management with WWF network leaders, as well as technical staff and executive leaders of external organisations. We will look to you to pro-actively engage in our influencing strategy for UNFCCC COP-26 (and to a lesser degree for G7 and CBD). This will involve delivering our advocacy priorities around net-zero and nature-based solutions. You will plan, strategise and lead on specific strategy outcomes as well as support WWF-network engagement. You will also work with key partner offices to manage our international advocacy collaboration. This will include developing, monitoring and managing targeted in-country advocacy projects aiming to influence international processes, including the CBD COP-15.

For this role you must have a relevant degree and expertise on climate and/or environmental policies in the global context as well as experience of delivering major advocacy campaigns influencing UN or other multi-lateral processes. You will be used to managing complex, integrated projects across multiple offices and organisations with many stakeholders, partners and agencies too. You will excel at building and managing relationships and possess excellent communication, influencing, facilitation and negotiation skills.
