Job Details

IPPR Scotland, Scotland’s progressive think tank, is looking to recruit a Media and Impact Assistant to join our growing team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting and challenging new role, based in IPPR Scotland, and forming part of IPPR’s UK-wide communications team, which will work to help IPPR Scotland achieve impact and influence across a wide range of audiences.

The IPPR Scotland team works for a fairer and more progressive Scotland. We do this by producing well-researched analysis and developing new creative policy ideas and solutions, focussed on some of the biggest questions, challenges and opportunities facing Scotland.

You will work to assist colleagues in planning, developing, coordinating and delivering IPPR Scotland’s communications across a range of channels. You will have a focus on media and digital communications, as well as our external affairs activity aimed at decision-makers in Scotland. You will carry out a range of tasks aimed at building IPPR Scotland’s profile in the media, social media and among policymakers in Scotland, achieving impact and influence for our work.

To be successful you will have experience of working (paid or unpaid) in a communications or media environment; knowledge of the Scotland-based media; and a keen interest in politics and public policy in Scotland. You will combine excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex information and draft accurate and concise media releases. If you have the ability to think creatively and work flexibly as part of a small team, we would like to hear from you.

IPPR is committed to equality of opportunity. As an organisation that engages in critical debate about a wide range of progressive policy issues, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide. We welcome applications from all sections of the community, especially from those with lived experience of disadvantage, and from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates who are currently under-represented at IPPR.

As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post. All options can be discussed at interview stage.

Closing Date: 8 March 2021
