Job Title: Senior Parliamentary Assistant (2.5 days)

Job Details

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with strong communication and written skills.  They will have a clear understanding of current affairs and solid experience in dealing with complex policy issues, writing press releases and producing detailed responses.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake research on complex subjects
  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues
  • Liaise with the media and monitor coverage,prepare press releases and a news column on a regular basis
  • Deal with complex policy issues and casework on the Members' behalf, including drafting high quality, detailed letters, submissions and reports
  • Progress casework as required

Skills and values:

  • Self starter
  • Strong communication and written skills
  • Experience of providing high quality detailed written responses and reports
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to prioritise, manage a busy workload and work to tight deadlines
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and upcoming business
