Wetlands are amazing, providing us with the essentials of life. However, they are also under pressure and 2021 is going to be a critical year for determining their future.

This year we have exciting proposals to respond to the climate, nature and wellbeing crises as well as the Covid-19 pandemic by using wetlands as nature-based solutions to deliver a wide range of broader societal benefits. We are calling for a ‘blue recovery’, creating a legacy of blue infrastructure through the restoration and creation of 100,000 hectares of multi-benefit wetlands.

The policy and advocacy team provide political intelligence, develop policy and deliver advocacy to make this happen, identifying opportunities, building partnerships and securing a supportive policy and funding framework. We are looking to build our capacity here, and grow our team. This is an exciting time to be joining WWT; if you are a strategic thinker, a persuasive advocate and a committed campaigner with a passion for people and nature, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a flexible approach to where you are based, but you must be prepared to travel to our HQ at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire and to London on a regular basis.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- Free parking  (when working at the Centre)
- Childcare voucher scheme
- Free entry to all our centres
