The Northumbria Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) adopts a multi-agency approach designed to bring together Police, Local Government, Health, Education and community representatives to tackle violent crime and its underlying causes. To build on the progress that has been made to date we are looking for two dynamic, experienced and highly motivated individuals to join our team:

Communications and Engagement Officer (permanent contract):

This is an ideal opportunity for the right person to help promote the work of the VRU as well as shape our engagement approach with communities and groups across Northumbria. We are looking for a creative and dynamic individual with a background in communication and engagement and experience in using a range of mediums to effectively promote projects and initiatives. This is a vital role within the team and the successful candidate will have substantial, demonstrable experience of working in a similar role.

Public Health Specialist (permanent contract):

We are looking for an experienced Public Health professional to join the team and lead on the development and progression of a number of key initiatives to reduce serious violence across Northumbria. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working in partnership, an understanding of the local public health landscape as well as an understanding of how data and intelligence is used to target and develop commissioned interventions.
