As Policy Director at the British Business Bank, you will play a key role in ensuring that the Bank maintains effective and collaborative relations with our shareholder (the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) in addition to other key stakeholders across Whitehall. You will act as the Bank’s main point of contact for policy questions and you will ensure the Bank continues to contribute to the Government’s key debates about SME access to finance.

Reporting to the Managing Director for Policy and Government Relations and Public Affairs (GRPA), you will develop and maintain a wide range of senior relationships across Government departments with a specific focus on small business finance. As Policy Director you will play a key role in delivering the Bank’s objective as the Government’s ‘Centre of Expertise’ regarding small business finance.

It is essential that you have experience working in the public sector, ideally within the policy division of central government. You will have experience in developing relationships and influencing policy at the most senior level and you will have demonstrable experience of advising senior civil servants and ministers on complex policy issues. It is desirable that you have experience in the financial services sector and an understanding of the challenges facing small businesses in the UK.
