Length of Contract: Fixed term until May 2022

Job Details

Lambeth Labour secured a record-breaking 4th term in the 2018 elections, wining 54% of the vote and 57 seats, the second highest ever in the borough. With three Labour MPs, a Labour GLA member and Labour Mayor we have a lot to defend in the 2021 GLA elections and 2022 Lambeth borough elections to ensure we can continue to deliver our ambitious agenda for Lambeth.

The Covid-19 crisis has laid bare the existing inequalities in our communities that Labour is committed to tackling. From protecting vulnerable people from the public health crisis and rebuilding the local economy so that it works for everyone, to tackling the climate emergency and improving opportunities for our diverse communities, this is a chance to work for one of the most progressive and forward thinking Labour administrations in the country.

We are therefore seeking an experienced organiser to produce and ensure distribution of campaign materials, improve involvement of our members in the party and of our party in the wider community, ensure the election of Labour candidates, and retain Lambeth for Labour in the 2022 elections.

The successful candidate will be an excellent team worker, an effective communicator with experience of election campaign co-ordination and leading teams of volunteers. You will contribute to campaign planning using your knowledge of local issues and your commitment to Labour’s continued success in Lambeth.

Reporting to your line manager, you will work closely with the local Labour parties, their branches and other party units. You will plan the provision of literature and online campaigns according to agreed schedules and support the campaign teams. You will need excellent IT skills and must be prepared to work both evenings and weekends in the run up to elections.

The Covid-19 crisis throws up new challenges in how we engage with local residents, recruit, and organise volunteers and spread Labour’s message across the borough. You will work with councillors and members to develop innovative ways to increase engagement, turnout, and support for Labour.

The Labour Party values equality and diversity, and welcomes applications from candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, gender identity, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

Closing Date: 3 March 2021
