Newham Council are launching a new Employment Rights Hub.

Working Hours: 36 per week
Location: Stratford

The brand new Employment Rights Hub is a Mayoral priority and this exciting new service will contribute to addressing some of the profound economic injustices experienced by many Newham residents. Research commissioned by the Council points to the many residents in Newham who are in work but not even being paid the national minimum wage.

The Employment Rights Service will raise awareness of employment rights across the borough. The service will strengthen community capacity by providing group educational interventions and training community advocates. Employment Rights Advisers will provide individual advice and support to those with employment rights issues, through intensive, one-to-one casework. Advisers will also be expected to enlighten and share best practice with employers in the borough regarding employment rights.

The overall purpose of this exciting new role is to help establish and co-ordinate delivery of the Employment Rights advice service under the Community Wealth Building strategy for Newham residents. The service will enable clients to improve their understanding of employment rights, what options they have and casework to a specialist level as required.
The aim is to enable clients to improve their economic stability wherever possible. Ensure that the service delivers advice in line with its policy of encouraging and supporting clients to:

• Self-help wherever possible, both immediately and in the future
• Improve their economic situation
• Help residents to regain control of their employment
