Job Details

Victoria Prentis MP is looking for a dynamic and flexible individual to join her team as either a Constituency Support Officer or Manager in her constituency office in Deddington, Oxfordshire. 

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face
  • Draft responses to constituents
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
  • Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency. Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts
  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
  • Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required
  • Attend constituency meetings and surgeries as appropriate and represent the MP when necessary
  • Oversight of constituency projects and local issues
  • General administrative tasks
  • Assist the MPs with other duties as required

  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends occasionally
  • Knowledge of the North Oxfordshire constituency desirable

The following skills are required:

  • A good understanding of the British political system and local government
  • A good grasp of current affairs
  • Some experience of Caseworker case management system preferable
  • An excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Teams
  • Experience of Adobe InDesign desirable
  • Proficient on social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook
  • Full clean driving licence

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
