Hong Kong Watch is a UK-based registered charity which researches and monitors threats to Hong Kong’s human rights, rule of law and autonomy as promised under the ‘one country, two systems’ principle which is enshrined in the Basic Law and the Sino-British Joint Declaration.
We are looking to hire a BNO Policy Advisor to join our team. You will be assisting our Policy Director in promoting the rights and integration of BNO holders and Hong Kong refugees through a range of activities with an objective to educate and inform policy makers and opinion leaders.
The activities include:
1. Providing technical advice to the Home Office on the barriers to BNOs and Hong Kong refugees realising their human rights and integrating into communities.
2. Providing briefings to UK decision makers and influencers including Parliamentarians, journalists and think tanks on the barriers to BNOs and Hong Kong refugees realising their rights.
3. Partnering with UK civil society groups to explore ways to collaborate in order to develop integration strategies for Hong Kongers and promote a more humane migration and asylum system.
4. Generating press coverage to frame the national conversation regarding the profile of BNO holders and Hong Kong refugees and the support they need to integrate.
You will be conducting research projects, developing and maintaining strong relationships with the UK Home Office, media, civil society, activists and local experts, conducting high-level briefings, drafting materials for press articles, publications and social media, and producing policy content for briefings, speeches and articles. You will also take part in organising events, attending virtual meetings or travel to meet with parliamentarians and stakeholders in the UK.
