Job Title: Constituency Office Caseworker
Working For: Sally-Ann Hart MP (Hastings & Rye)
Salary: In line with IPSA pay scales (salary range between £20,000 - £28,000 dependent on experience)
Length of Contract: Permanent
Sally-Ann Hart, Member of Parliament for Hastings, Rye and the surrounding villages is looking to recruit a full-time member of staff to join her Constituency Office based in Hastings.
The ideal candidate will be bright and enthusiastic, empathetic and with excellent communication skills, highly organised, and with a keen interest in politics.
Key responsibilities include:
Dealing with a wide range of enquiries from constituents via email, telephone and in person
Administrative office support, file management, mail handling
Attending regular constituent surgeries and other meetings with Sally-Ann, as required
Liaising with Government departments, local councils and other organisations
Communicating aspects of Sally-Ann’s work to relevant audiences via Community engagement
Researching local, regional or national issues to support the MP’s work
The successful candidate will have:
Keen political awareness, sympathetic to the Conservative Party values
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to show empathy and patience
Experience of working with members of the public
An ability to take the initiative and work proactively to manage competing deadlines, to prioritise tasks and to work independently
Excellent attention to detail, especially in written communications
The ability to work in a sensitive and confidential manner at all times
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
As part of the role, some travel throughout the constituency will be required, as well as occasional weekend work
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interviews will take place via Zoom or Microsoft Teams on a rolling basis.
Those who are asked to interview will be given a short written exercise to submit prior to the interview.
If short-listed, a final interview will take place with Sally-Ann.
