Job Details
Robert Largan MP is looking for a full time Correspondence Assistant to join his small team based in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage, but not necessary.
This will be a temporary position until the end of March 2022, and will be suitable for someone wishing to help people in the local community, or who wish to gain experience of working in politics.
The applicant will be expected to deal directly, both face-to-face and on the telephone, with members of the public, some of whom may be distressed or disadvantaged; a calm and reassuring demeanour is therefore essential.
The applicant should be organised, self-motivated and able to handle a potentially large workload efficiently and effectively. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, and experience using computers and the Microsoft Office suite is essential.
Duties will primarily include:
- Supporting the constituency Caseworkers where needed
- Providing general admin support
- Attending meetings / advice surgeries where necessary
Candidates should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
