Job Details

Judith and Peter are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational and communication skills to support their work in Westminster. The role will involve supporting Peter’s and Judith’s work in Westminster which will include drafting speeches and interventions and to ensure that this and other work is effectively communicated to constituents, the press, and stakeholders via traditional and social media.

Job Description: The successful candidate will:
1. Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc.
2. Research local and national issues to support both MP's work.
3. Ensure the Members are fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the house.
4. Prepare and present briefing notes for meetings, APPGs etc.
5. Draft speeches, questions, press releases, articles and social media posts as required
6. Contribute to the external communications and outreach of both MP’s office.
7. Monitor media coverage and brief the Members on relevant issues.
8. Create content and co-manage the Member's social media accounts and website.
9. Provide generalist admin support.
10. Support coordination of their Westminster diaries
11. There may be some occasional travel between the constituency offices and Westminster.

Key Skills and Experience
1. Excellent written communication skills.
2. Knowledge and experience of working in a political environment would be an advantage.
3. Strong organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
4. Knowledge and experience of producing traditional and electronic materials, including flyers, reports and surveys for use in constituent communications.
5. Ability to use Microsoft Office.
6. Media and social media management skills.
7. Experience of digital video production and of creating digital content is desirable.
8. Able to work with a range of local and national companies, charities and other organisations in order to progress issues of policy interest.
9. Strong interpersonal skills, willingness to learn and the ability to work as part of a team.
10. Sympathetic to the aims of the Labour Party.
