Job Title: Communications Officer

Job Details

Principal responsibility for external and internal communications including planning, delivery and evaluation of IPT communications. Communications must speak to two core audiences: parliamentarians and the business community, being engaging with a tone to reflect the IPT’s core aim of creating educational interactions between industry and Parliament.

Main duties
• Plan, coordinate and deliver IPT external communications
• Understand and develop the communication strategies of each IPT team based on short, medium and long term needs
• Design and deliver IPT digital and print assets via Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
• Maintain and develop the website including keeping information up to date and leading on projects for improvement
• Copywrite and proofread materials including briefs, blogs, press releases, mailouts and social media content
• Manage IPT’s social media presence
• Oversight of and responsibilities for consistent messaging, communications and brand identity in all materials
• Control over internal communications function including updates on parliamentary business and developments in the business world
• Regular review and updating of communications plans
• Assist with projects around IT infrastructure
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and stakeholders for website, CRM, IT, and print materials
• Occasional liaison with media contacts

Person Specification
Essential
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Demonstrable experience of copywriting in a professional setting
• Strong attention to detail
• Good relationship building skills allowing you to work flexibly across all levels of seniority
• A good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
• Interest in current affairs including a knowledge of UK Parliament and the current political landscape
• Comfortable working independently with a high degree of autonomy
• Confident working with people in senior positions
• Highly flexible and ability to adapt to changing situations
• Willing to work late at events and functions (with time off in lieu to compensate)
• Experience using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Desirable
• Experience using MailChimp or similar email marketing software
• Experience with CRM and database systems
• Understanding of IT and cloud solutions

Anticipated start date will be end of August/beginning of September.

Interviews will be held week commencing 28 June, either via Zoom or in person if goverment guidelines allow.
