About NYA

NYA holds a unique position within the youth sector. We are the  Professional Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) for youth work in England, responsible for occupational standards, qualifications, practice, guidance and safeguarding. Our charity mission is to transform the lives of young people through youth work. This includes guidance and support for youth services and out of school activities across the statutory, voluntary, community and private sector organisations, and related professions.

As the national body, we work closely with government, local authorities, national agencies, and partnerships across regions and the voluntary sector, all supported by research, advocacy and campaigns. Our work is informed by and developed with young people and is public-facing through media and digital channels.

The role

You will lead a high performing policy and public affairs function securing policy changes to enhance youth work as well as helping secure NYA's reputation and external relationships including politicians, policy influencers and media. 

We are looking for a positive, self-starter and effective team player, with significant experience of public policy or a political and media role. You will need to excel in relationship building and have outstanding communication skills, with evidence of preparing high-quality written communications for senior-level audiences.
