Job Details

Jeremy Hunt is looking for an experienced part-time caseworker to join his busy team. The hours are flexible - likely to be two days per week but scope to develop the role with additional hours, particularly during busy periods and holiday cover.

The successful applicant can be home based or work from the constituency office in Hindhead, Surrey. The successful candidate will support the existing constituency-based senior caseworkers in providing advice, support and responses to constituents on a wide range of issues.

Previous experience as a Parliamentary caseworker is essential.

The candidate will be self-motivated, well-organised with excellent writing skills, attention to detail and reliable.

Duties:

· Respond to correspondence and enquiries from constituents as directed by the senior case worker.
· Liaise with and draft correspondence to government agencies, voluntary sector and other organisations to help resolve cases.
· Advance casework, log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
· Draft written casework responses to constituents.
· Update Caseworker record management system - retaining details in line with the GDPR

Skills, Experience and qualities:

· Strong written and oral communication skills, including a good telephone manner.
· Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail. Good IT skills including MS Word and Excel.
· Experience with Caseworker software
· Excellent people skills, with ability to deal with constituents in a compassionate and sensitive way.
· Ability to undertake research on casework and policy issues - an awareness of central and local government structures would be useful
· The ability to prioritise workload and proactively work through complex issues with constituents.
Able to work well under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
· Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
