We are seeking an experienced Sub-Saharan security and political risk analyst for a role based in a major business hub in Sub-Saharan Africa, or else in London, UK. The candidate will be embedded in a major multinational financial service firm’s global security department.

Responsibilities

• Be a diligent and collaborative member of a team of analysts providing rigorous, forward thinking and commercially relevant analysis and forecasts
• Produce forward-looking analysis on all major security, economic, social and environmental risk issues for the firm’s Regional Security Directors for sub-Saharan Africa and Global Security teams
• Identify gaps in current analysis products and suggest new solutions, methodologies and products as needed
• Support an environment of protecting the client’s people, staff, facilities and information through pro-active analytical reporting, information sharing, and partnering with internal stakeholders

Essential:
• Relevant bachelors’ degree or higher
• Excellent and demonstrable understanding of the range of risks facing businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa
• At least 2-3 years' work experience in a related field
• Experience of living and working in Sub-Saharan Africa
• The ability to write clear, simple and compelling English
• Excellent professional judgement, as well as the capability to identify emerging political and security issues and their likely consequences for a commercial firm
• Excellent relationship building skills, including the ability to build relations in a complex multi-jurisdictional environment, and working with colleagues remotely across multiple time-zones
• Experience of completing multiple tasks simultaneously and functioning with minimal supervision
• Our strong preference is for a candidate who is able to work in a major Sub-Saharan African business hub

Highly desirable:
• The ability to read French is an advantage
• An understanding of whether and how any risks to business might be mitigated
• Presentational skills, and experience of platforms such as Tableau
• Experience in a similar corporate security role
