Job Details
The Operations Officer will be responsible for the smooth running of the organisation, working to improve our operations, help manage our finances, support our members and enable Compass to build over time. The OO will support work on research, alliances and projects and contribute across the range of Compass’ campaigns.
Compass is a growing organisation and is looking for someone who wants to help us develop, scale and be more effective. This is a great time to be working with a dynamic, progressive political organisation with big ambitions - and this role is pivotal to helping us achieve them.
The Operations Officer will work with Compass’ Deputy Director, Executive Director and Communications Officer, as well as a broad network of partners, associates and volunteers. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, committed and keen to learn and is comfortable working in a small and lively team.
This role involves:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the organisation, including member engagement, finances and institutional development
- Keeping the organisation to budget and managing our accounts (no prior experience necessary)
- Helping provide background research for our projects and campaigns
- Supporting the functioning, operations and growth of our local groups
- Contributing to our projects and campaigns, including events, publications, podcasts and research

- Flexible and able to multitask: able to work in a fast-paced political environment, to prioritise effectively and handle competing responsibilities
- Reliable and consistent: a keen eye for detail and high standards for outputs
- Taking the initiative: able to self-organise, work independently and efficiently
- Willingness to learn: be open-minded, flexible and eager to gain new skills
