Job Description
- Lead the development of public policy and influencing projects to deliver strategic, high impact policy outcomes
- Deliver and develop strategies to build effective and influential regulatory liaison, including with Ofcom and the ICO
- Build excellent relationships with civil service, parliamentary, industry and civil society stakeholders, and leverage these to deliver high impact policy change
- Deliver persuasive, evidenced policy interventions to ensure child-centred decisions on regulatory design and delivery, and that supports our ambition to be a user advocate for children in online harms regulation
- Oversee high quality policy development on new and emerging policy issues, proactively identifying emerging concerns or policy risks
- Work closely with Press and Campaigns teams to deliver effective and authoritative external messaging, and manage cross-cutting projects across directorates
- Be a key point of contact for internal and external requests for information and advice about NSPCC's positions on complex technological and regulatory positions
The Successful Applicant
- Demonstrable prior experience of working in regulated contexts or for a regulator.
- Excellent understanding of online harms issues. A background in online harms or related public policy areas are strongly desirable
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent policy development skills, being able to make evidence-based and credible positions on complex and highly nuanced subject matter
- Strong analytical skills, with a clear ability to understand the wider policy and legislative context, and turn problems into compelling policy solutions
- Show a good understanding of related public policy issues, with a demonstrable ability to design and deliver high-impact policy interventions
- Strong knowledge of policy and legislative processes, using sound political judgement to deliver meaningful policy and public affairs change
- Excellent stakeholder and persuasive skills, with evidence of delivering tangible change through influencing key relationships, forming tactical and strategic networks, and leveraging political and external dynamics
