Job Details

Jeremy Hunt MP is looking for a Secretary to join his Westminster Office. You will be responsible for managing a busy diary as well as responding to emails, letters and calls. This is a great opportunity to really make a difference to the office of a high profile Member of Parliament. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside normal working hours and travel to the constituency for work occasionally.

Essential attributes:

  • Proven ability to balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely well organised with a very keen eye for detail
  • Strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Outlook and Word

Desirable attributes:

  • Experience of managing a busy diary
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party

Responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the diary
  • Open, handle and action post
  • Draft responses to constituents particularly campaign queries using PRU
  • Responsible for arrangements for events
  • Respond to enquiries by telephone and email
  • Handle administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public and key stakeholders
  • Liaise with suppliers when required regarding office supplies and security
  • Booking and organisation of tours (liaison with constituency team regarding OPQ and PMQ bookings)
  • Supporting the team in Westminster and the Constituency as needed

Intern

He is also looking for a paid intern role which would suit a recent graduate or school leaver and will help the office respond to constituency correspondence, carry out special research and data entry projects, and assist with local campaigns. This role could be based in either Westminster or his Hindhead Office in his constituency. 

The duties will include -

  • Assisting in responding to correspondence from constituents
  • Assisting on research for local campaigns
  • Carrying out data entry projects
  • Assisting with office admin and support for the wider team

Key skills required include:

  • Strong organisational/administrative skills with good attention to detail
  • Good general IT skills and competence with Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with data entry work

Desirable attributes

  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Conservative Party
  • Can do attitude and willingness to get involved in a variety of work
