Salary: £33,000-39,000 plus London weighting of £2k where applicable.

Job Details

Overview: The Programme Manager is a key senior role in the SMF and a member of the Programme Management Team. The Programme Manager reports to the Head of Programme (Delivery) and deputises for them when needed, but has a significant degree of autonomy and accountability, acting as a project sponsor for key delivery and development projects and owning key external relationships with funders and other partners. The Programme Manager also has line management responsibility for a number of programme coordinators.

  • Takes accountability for own performance and that of the team
  • Able to own and manage key delivery and development projects, setting objectives and outcomes, overseeing delivery and quality, and helping identify and solve obstacles
  • Confident in representing the SMF externally to funders, stakeholders and partners and skilled in managing key external relationships
  • Able to motivate and manage high performing staff, willing to challenge poor performance and behaviours
  • Excellent understanding of current and emerging needs of SMF students, universities and employers and awareness of the strategic context for SMF’s beneficiaries
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and develop mutually beneficial corporate funding relationships and other partnerships
  • Confident in representing the SMF externally to funders, stakeholders and partners, building networks and presenting the case for support
  • Evidence of excellent planning and organisational skills including project planning, prioritisation and time management
  • Committed to the aims of the Social Mobility Foundation and with good understanding of the landscape for social mobility
  • Working collaboratively across the board with different lines of business and spotting maximisation opportunities with existing partners, using programme knowledge, insight and expertise to develop the SMF proposition with ERBD

Location: Any SMF City – Cardiff, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newcastle

Most SMF staff are currently working from home; over the coming months we expect to resume office working with a mix of home and office working for staff across all cities
