Job Details

We are looking for a Press Officer who will thrive in a fast-paced environment with significant room for growth and development. The role will require finding creative ways to deliver messaging, the ability to produce research for officials and writing op-eds and statements to a high-level under tight deadlines, with the support and under the supervision of the Spokesperson of the Embassy.

Main Responsibilities:

• Drafting op-eds, press releases, blogs and other content for publication, under the guidance of the Spokesperson (including original content for social media)

• Monitoring and analysis of media coverage

• Acting as a point of contact for journalists and other relevant stakeholders

• Identifying and pitching relevant stories to journalists

• Briefing diplomats and high-ranking officials ahead of meetings, interviews and events

• Working collaboratively with colleagues from other departments to promote the work of the Embassy

• Providing political advice and support when required

Key requirements:

• A keen interest in international politics in general, and the Middle East in particular

• An academic degree in related fields

• 1-3 years of experience in relevant industries and positions

• If not a UK citizen, the candidate must have a work permit/UK visa (valid for at least 2 years)

The suitable candidate should ideally have:

• Excellent writing skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Proficiency in all social media platforms

• Familiarity with the British media landscape

• Willingness to work outside of office working hours, within reason

• Proactivity and a “can-do” attitude

• Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Research and analytical skills

• Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail
