The Local Government Association (LGA) is the national voice of local government. We work with councils to support, promote and improve local government.

We are a politically-led, cross-party organisation which works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils, so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems; as well as support local authorities with their own self-improvement.

The role

The LGA works to influence government policy and support councils to deliver effectively for their communities.

The Research and Information Team is looking for a part time (17.5 hours per week) fixed term (to 31 March 2022) Research and Data Analyst who can design and deliver research, and data and analytic services. The successful post-holder will be a key part of the team that delivers evidence for the LGA’s policy development, support and lobbying work, and delivers our LG Inform data service to authorities. Our work is widely used within the organisation and often features in the media.

The successful candidates can expect to take on a very varied and wide-ranging portfolio of work that supports and promotes local authorities and helps them to self-improve.

The requirements

It’s essential that you have both research (surveys and interviews) and data analysis skills and can write and communicate well. We are looking for team players with good organisational abilities.

You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
