Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) are looking for a Events and External Affairs Officer to join our small, dynamic Communication and External Affairs team, reporting to our Head of Communication and External Affairs and External Affairs and the Environmental Democracy Adviser, working across the organisation.

This new position will support three key areas of WFD's work. Engagement with parliamentarians, UK parliament and devolved legislatures and deliver flagship WFD events, including a Conference on Environmental Democracy (currently planned for February or March 2022). Engagement around multilateral and international summits and organisations, such as COP26, a Parliamentary Strengthening Community of Practice, the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Summit, and the Summit for Democracy. Administration support for our in house experts - Technical Advisory Unit (TAU)

This is a varied and interesting role; you will be responsible for coordinating WFD’s engagement with MPs, briefing WFD staff on inquiries, evidence sessions, parliamentary debates, and reports related to WFD’s work, Writing briefings for MPs, senior WFD staff and board members, organising, administration, logistic planning.

The core skills and experience we are looking for are;

Exceptional planning and organisation skills, able to work to a high degree of accuracy Highly developed written and spoken English, with writing and editing skills suitable for external publication

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with MPs and officials Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and plan and organize own workload Tech-savvy, and proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and online meeting and event platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

Knowledge of UK parliament and/or international organisations and multilateral bodies and an understanding of the UK political landscape Experience organizing in-person and/or online events.
