This is a newly created role and we are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to lead the development of the Index. We are looking to increase the scale and impact of the Index significantly over the next few years and you will play a crucial part in that development, with opportunities to grow the team in the future.

As Employer Index Manager, you will:

  • Play a leading role in the long term development of the Index, thinking about how we can achieve our ambition and grow the influence of the Index with key stakeholders
  • Evolve the employer and employee survey in line with external developments in social mobility
  • Project manage the end-to-end delivery including employer recruitment, assessment and evaluation, and the key findings report
  • Oversee a project team who will help contribute to the design and delivery of the Index drawing on resources and skills from across the charity including policy & research, communications and employer relations

In addition to your work on the Index, you will also contribute to the development of our Department for Opportunities campaigns and broader work advocating for social mobility, influencing and mobilising employers and developing our programmes. You will:

  • Share insights from the Index with colleagues across the SMF
  • Update the team on external policy developments that relate to social mobility
  • Contribute to government consultation responses
  • Attend stakeholder briefings
  • Prepare briefings for the CEO and senior team as required

Location: Based near any SMF target City (London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow) with a mix of home and office working

Benefits: 25 days annual leave; bonus annual leave days between Christmas and New Year; 5% employer pension contribution after a satisfactory completion of a four month probation period; flexible working hours.
