Job Details

It takes many different bees to protect the hive.

At MI5, we protect the UK from all sorts of threats – from terrorism, through to cyber-attacks. It means we have really rewarding careers that rely on people with varied backgrounds, ages and skills – just like our Business Enabler role. Whether you’ve just graduated or want a career change, you’ll develop your skills, have a hugely positive impact and be at the heart of what we do.

When you join, you won’t be rotated around different departments. Instead, your first post will last for either two or three years and you’ll be based in fascinating areas like Finance, Legal, Information Management, HR, Project Management, Compliance, Recruitment, Policy, and Data Management. (And that’s just to name a few.) This’ll help you to gain a variety of experience, build relationships and find the area that suits you best. You’ll get lots of interesting insights, all while supporting our teams to run smoothly. And while you’ll be employed by MI5, you might have opportunities to also work with MI6 and GCHQ.

There’s no one ‘type’ of person we’re after. We’re interested in all the things that make you, you. If you have (or are expecting) a 2:2 degree in any subject, or relevant work experience, we can teach you everything you need to know. You’ll also need to be good at communicating with people, enjoy working in a team and have great organisational skills. And it’s important that you’re keen to learn. No matter your experience or background, you’ll go on an induction, have your own mentor and plenty of training.

At MI5 diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodiverse conditions. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including those from groups that are under-represented in our workforce.
