This is a unique chance to become the Deputy Head of Office for the GLA Conservative Members of the London Assembly.

Working closely with the Head of Office, you will be responsible for managing the provision of research support and the related staffing team for the Members of the Group, as well as conducting key research yourself. Central to your work will be coordinating research for Mayor’s Question Time and Assembly Plenary meetings and overseeing the Group’s policy report programme.

You will need significant experience of successful working in a similar role within a political, policy or comparable high-profile environment, including resolving complex issues effectively.

A thorough understanding of current policy issues affecting London is required, together with an understanding of the legislative framework in which the GLA works, together with evidence of an ability to lead and motivate a team of staff to ensure that policies, programmes and strategies are implemented.

The ability to produce authoritative clear and concise oral and written briefings and reports and to carry out research on complex issues for a range of audiences, presenting it in a way that can be used by Assembly Members to their best advantage, is essential.

You must also demonstrate commitment and understanding of the role of the GLA in promoting equality and working with diverse groups in developing the work required to advance the needs of Assembly Members.

This role will initially be based at City Hall. The Mayor has announced that City Hall will be relocating from More London (London Bridge) to the Crystal Building in the Royal Docks. This role will be based at The Crystal Building (from January 2022).
