Working For: London Assembly

Location: London

Salary: £34,636 per annum

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Do you want to be involved in a fast-paced political team working across London’s diverse policy topics?

Due to new roles being created within the team, we are offering two exciting opportunities to be a Research and Support Officer for the City Hall Greens of the London Assembly.

You will join a multidisciplinary team who work to support the three Green Party Assembly Members in all their work, from public outreach to policy advice. You will have experience of working in a high-profile organisation or political environment, and have excellent research, writing and people skills.

The London Assembly scrutinises the work of the Mayor across the policy areas of transport, housing, environment, policing, health, the economy, planning and regeneration, fire and emergency planning, and the Mayor’s multi-billion pound budget, and applications are invited from candidates with experience in one or more of these areas.

This role works closely with the Team Manager, fellow Research and Support Officers, a press officer, and three elected politicians in a dynamic, friendly team. Your work will include undertaking research, as well as providing policy briefings, drafting questions to the Mayor, liaising with the public and external organisations, managing correspondence and casework, organising meetings and writing clear communications material for a range of audiences. The work is fast moving and varied.

GLA staff are now hybrid working, both from home and from their office space at City Hall in More London (London Bridge).

You will be joining the team at a pivotal time when the London Assembly will be preparing to relocate to the Crystal Building in the Royal Docks, while implementing its ambitious work programme in the first year of this Mayoral and Assembly term. This role will continue as hybrid working, and will be based at the Crystal Building from January 2022.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

London’s diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects this at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.

Closing Date: 11 October 2021
