Job Details

The Northern Research Group (NRG) is a pooled research facility for a group of Conservative MPs in the United Kingdom who were elected to represent constituencies in northern England, Wales and the Scottish borders to deliver on the levelling-up agenda.

They are advertising for Interns to join the NRG's growing team in Westminster.

This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical individual who is highly organised with strong research skills, strong attention to detail, as well as excellent written, verbal and numerical skills.

Your responsibilities:

  • Assisting research projects.
  • Collecting, analysing and interpreting data.
  • Handling email, post and social media enquiries.
  • Preparing briefing notes ahead of Parliamentary debates and on a range of policy issues.
  • Orally briefing MPs and their staff.
  • Drafting policy-related correspondence replies to constituents.
  • Providing support for Parliamentary activity, including monitoring bills, early day motions, Hansard, select committees, debates, and Parliamentary Questions.
  • Researching and reviewing government policy in relation to the ‘levelling-up’ agenda.

Your professional experience:

• Excellent written communication.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Good oral communication and networking skills.
• Numeracy and an understanding of data and statistics.
• Knowledge of Parliament and UK politics.
• The ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Strong academic credentials.
