We are looking for a Public Affairs Manager to work within the Policy and Public Affairs team for The National Lottery Community Fund.

You will sit within a small fast-paced team and will support the senior management team, board and chair in their stakeholder engagement. You will manage three Public Affairs officers within the team, so we require a professional leader with excellent communication and development style.

This role would suit someone with existing experience of working with politicians or in a stakeholder engagement environment.

Management of the Public Affairs Officers and working together as a team will ensure there is a proactive programme of engagement with stakeholders, with a particular focus on English stakeholders, including English MPs and regional Mayors. You will work with our funding colleagues in England to deliver project visits, briefings, events in Parliament and stakeholder round tables.

You will work closely with our colleagues in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This includes leading on our UK wide polling and political monitoring.

You will work with other Lottery Distributers to support our work to keep UK wide Members of Parliament informed on the difference Lottery Funding makes to their constituents.

You need to be good with tight deadlines and able to work well and confidently with colleagues, especially at a senior level.

You will ensure engagement reflects our strategic priorities, is clear and consistent and helps to enhance the Fund’s reputation and communicate key messages to our stakeholders.

Importantly we need someone who is curious about the society we live in and passionate about the vital role of charities and voluntary organisations in helping communities to thrive and about the work The National Lottery Community Fund does.

Essential Criteria

  • Is organised and able to manage a wide number of activities which the team will be across at any one time
  • Experience in an around Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement
  • A strong interest in UK current affairs, developing topics, issues and themes

Desirable Criteria

  • Has experience in the charity or community sector, or government
  • Experience of briefing colleagues/external audiences, ideally at a senior level
  • Delivering stakeholder events
