Job Details
Bright Blue is the independent think tank and pressure group for liberal conservatism. We defend and improve liberal society. Our primary role is to create and vet government policy.
We are looking for a creative and ambitious Digital Communications Officer to increase and improve our digital outputs and help expand our influence. The successful candidate will join us to produce high-quality content promoting all aspects of Bright Blue’s work, including research and events, across a range of communications channels, such as our website, social media, and YouTube channel.
The role is ideal for a candidate who wants to kickstart a career in political communications. We want applications from talented and hard-working people with an entrepreneurial mindset, and who can demonstrate artistic flare and political awareness.
The successful candidate will be focused on the following:
- Managing Bright Blue’s YouTube channel, including producing our regular Bright Blue TV show
- Producing and editing innovative digital content, including videos, animations and graphics
- Producing, editing and publishing our video and audio outputs
- Writing and editing blogs and opinion pieces
- Creating and designing our marketing materials
- Growing our social media presence
- Maintaining, updating and promoting our website
- Composing and sending bulletins and newsletters
- Producing, editing and publishing our video and audio outputs
Person specification:
- A belief in Bright Blue’s core values
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- A successful track record in digital content creation
- Creative and imaginative approach to digital design
- Experience of using a content management system
- Ability to understand complex ideas and communicate them in a simple manner
- Strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and the ability to work independently and in teams
- An entrepreneurial mindset, with a desire to create new work and opportunities for Bright Blue
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
The following technical skills are essential:
- Ability to use Adobe software for publications and graphic design
- Ability to use video and audio editing software
The following technical skills are desirable:
- Ability to use Adobe software for animation
- Ability to produce and manage a livestream
