Job Details

Nicola Richards MP is looking to recruit a Communications Officer to be a member of her vibrant team.
The position would suit a candidate who is highly organised and can prioritise and manage a busy and diverse workload. The ability to work under pressure with sound judgement and a high attention to detail is vital. The suitable candidate should be personable and able to work as part of a small and fast-paced team.
The successful applicant will need to be able to undertake media and press activities, design and create content for social media, as well as assist with wider communications activities and assist the wider parliamentary and constituency team.

Requirements:
• A highly motivated staff member, with a positive attitude and ability to work collectively as part of the wider team.
• Previous experience of working for a Member of Parliament and a broad knowledge of Parliamentary protocol and procedures desired.
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Indesign.
• Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail
• Ability to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
• An interest in current affairs, local and national politics, and sympathy with Conservative Party values
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not necessary

Duties will include, but not limited to:
• Responsible for social media strategy and engagement
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Indesign.
• Creating graphics for various social media platforms
• Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency.
• Event planning and logistics, agreeing event communications and occasionally helping to facilitate events.
• Follow up on social media queries and comments
• Drafting Press Releases.
• Pro-active and re-active communications with all media including fielding requests and advising on requests
• Provide general admin support
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
• Carrying out any other duties as and when required in order to contribute to the efficient running of the Member's office.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will start from week commencing 13th December with the successful candidate commencing employment in January 2022.
