The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 130 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way.

The Children’s Society (TCS) is at an exciting stage of its journey with a new organisational goal and renewed commitment to reverse the damaging decline in children’s well-being. This is no ordinary job, with the scale of the crisis in children’s mental health, and the scale of our ambition to transform children’s well-being. This role is central to our strategy, this is a unique moment to make the difference children need and deserve, and help TCS raise the volume on children’s well-being.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Are ambitious, passionate and optimistic for change in children's well-being and mental health
  • Are a driven, collaborative leader who wants to work with us to shape and significantly grow our work in this space
  • Have a deep knowledge of the well-being agenda as it relates to children and young people; Knowledge of preventative strategies / early interventions to tackle low well being; Knowledge of the issues facing young people accessing mental health support; Place based approaches and Integrated Care Systems
  • Are an experienced advocate in the legislative process and policy landscape
  • Are excited by policy that is youth informed, evidence-based, grounded in practice, inclusive and delivers change.
  • Are well connected and networked in the well-being and mental health space
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills – high level, persuasive, influencing, and negotiation skills are essential to this post

We value and promote diversity and are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture at The Children’s Society. We also appreciate the best leadership teams reflect the communities they serve. And that effective Policy propositions and political influencing adopts an intersectional lens – so the affects and change for people from all parts of our communities are considered. We strongly encourage and welcome applications from people across all groups that are underrepresented.
