An opportunity has arisen to join Jonathan Ashworth’s busy Constituency Office team as a Full Time Constituency Support Officer. Contributing to an excellent service to Jonathan’s constituents you will be confident and self-motivated. Experience of working in a busy office environment, and working with members of the public, are highly desirable.

Main duties will include:

  • Engaging professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, through a variety of methods
  • Responding to standard queries by mail, telephone, email and social media
  • Ensure that standard cases are dealt with promptly, sensitively, accurately and confidentially including drafting responses to constituents
  • Log cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken and that the office complies with the data protection legislation
  • Analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and staff members
  • Monitor media coverage, draft press releases and briefing notes for the Member

Skills required include:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good customer service skills - ability to deal with constituents and community interest groups in a helpful and sympathetic manner
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage own workload in a fast changing and busy environment
  • Ability to work well individually and as part of a small team
  • Good IT skills

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
