Job Details

The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Programme will be the largest and most complex restoration of a historic building ever undertaken in the UK. Building and maintaining support among key stakeholders will be essential for success, and therefore we are seeking outstanding candidates to join the team as External Affairs Officers.

These roles offer an exciting and unique opportunity to help build support for the historic Programme with audiences around the whole of the UK. Reporting to the External Affairs Managers within the Communications and External Relations team, the External Affairs Officers will help implement existing engagement and communications activities and identify and shape future opportunities.

Working collaboratively with other directorates, you will have the opportunity to represent the Programme at engagement events across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to build effective two-way relationships with local, regional and national stakeholder organisations and promote the UK-wide benefits the Programme will deliver.

You’ll be effective self-starters with developed relationship building, influencing and communication skills. Strategic thinkers with good problem-solving skills, a positive attitude and a ‘can-do’ approach, you will have a good understanding of communications and engagement methodology and best practice, with a proven ability to proactively build relationships with people at all levels and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Although this role is currently home based due to Covid-19 restrictions, candidates may be required to come into our London office once restrictions are lifted, so should be prepared to travel.
