Job Details

Wera Hobhouse is the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Bath, elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2019 with a majority of 12,322. She is the Lib Dem spokesperson on the Climate Emergency. She speaks for the Lib Dems in parliament on Justice, Women and Equalities and shadows the Leader of the House.
The appointment of Administrative Officer will be based at her office in Bath. The job can be full time or nearly full time.
Working alongside Wera’s Senior Parliamentary Assistant in Bath, you will be responsible for managing the MP’s constituency diary. You will respond to meeting requests and proactively identify opportunities for engagement with a wide range of groups, organisations and individuals, including schools, businesses, charities and community groups.
You will help build and manage stakeholder relationships.
You will research, write briefs, take meeting minutes, write reports and follow up on meetings.
You will undertake general administrative and secretarial tasks and undertake other duties within the constituency office as required.
Essential Skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
• Strong administrative and IT skills
• Ability to work proactively and independently as part of a small team

A summary of the job description is:
Diary management
Assist with arrangements for events; this may include: venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required
Handling administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries
Assist in the compilation of briefing packs
Minute taking
Engage professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, through a variety of methods
Assist in the writing of speeches
Assist in the updating of social media on request
Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with the data protection legislation
The job specification, salary range and employment contract terms are overseen by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA).

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
