Job Details

Sara Britcliffe MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, is looking to recruit a Communications Officer for her busy Constituency office in Accrington. The role will be full time, some weekend and evening work required. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering all of the members campaigns and communications activity, the applicant must be able to undertake the organisation of events, media and press activities, design and create content for social media, as well as assist with wider communications activities such as newsletters, community engagement and website management. Duties will include, but not limited to:

• Monitor and update social media and an online presence in the constituency

• Produce online graphics, video content and editing, as well as publicising surgeries and news

• Assist with constituency surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate

• Website management

• Manage and monitor social media enquiries

• Prepare press releases as required

• Preparing media briefings

• Pro-active and re-active communications with all media, meeting deadlines as appropriate

Requirements:

• A highly motivated staff member, with a positive attitude and ability to work collectively as part of the wider team

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure with competing priorities

•Excellent people management skills, including coaching and mentoring other members of staff

• Attention to detail

• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party

• Previous experience with graphics software

Able to:

• Prioritise a demanding workload with an eye for detail and a can-do attitude

• Organise and present information in a simple and sensible way

• Excellent written skills

• Engage with members of the public professionally, confidentially, and with care and integrity
