A full time Policy Intern is required for the public health charity Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

ASH is a public health charity that works to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco. Smoking is the largest preventable cause of death and disease in the UK and accounts for half the difference in life expectancy between the richest and poorest in society.

ASH prioritises policy impact as a key measure of success and holds strong relationships with a range of organisations across the public health community. The Policy Intern will contribute to ASH’s work to support and influence NHS and local government activity to address smoking, including the delivery of a series of online events on the tobacco elements of the NHS Long Term Plan, as well as maintaining ASH’s public health networks and supporting the wider team as required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Degree or relevant experience
• An interest in politics and health policy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong administrative and IT skills

We welcome applications from postgraduate students. EU and non-EU nationals must already have the right to work in UK.

ASH staff are currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The role will involve working from home initially with the possibility of coming into the office on a part-time basis in future.
