Job Details

Robin Millar MP is looking for an experienced Senior Parliamentary Assistant to join his London office team on a part time (3 days) basis. This is a newly created position where you will work closely with Robin and will be heavily involved in all aspects of Parliamentary life, including responsibility for co-ordinating the team’s research, writing and comms work.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, able to act on their own initiative, able to prioritise workload, demonstrate good political understanding and be an effective and efficient organiser. Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring appropriate, efficient and effective support to the Member.

• Developing relationships and acting as the key point of contact in Parliament.

• Ensuring the Member has accurate and timely information on key issues.

• Maintaining an excellent working knowledge of Parliamentary business including bills, House business and debates

• Contributing to team discussions on policy issues

• Organising, attending and participating in meetings as appropriate

• Organising a strong office team, developing good practice and organising training where appropriate.


• Previous parliamentary experience at a senior level.

• Motivated staff member with a positive can-do attitude.

• Excellent written and verbal skills and attention to detail.

• Able to work with current IT and online tools and remotely.

• An interest in current affairs and politics and sympathetic to the aims of the Conservative Party.


• Knowledge of North Wales.

• Understanding of devolved government.

• Interest in reforms to tackle poverty.
